On the Island of Hawaiʻi, Kaluapele (the pit of pele or Pele) crowns the summit region of the volcano Kīlauea.

 Stormy blusteriness tumult outside.  In snug hale, jook bubbles gently on stovetop.  Contrasts abound.  Pelehonuamea continues her hoʻomaha, resting wreathed in steams and vapors.

Kinda challenging to discern.  Mayhaps the thermal camera is not working properly, but with all the warmhot māhu itʻs difficult to know.  In any case, I like the color orange.    From a similar perspective, below, no sign of red.  Though of course that will change without much warning.

"... an effective pause in the current eruption, however this is the fourth such pause..."

Then from the opposite side of Halemaʻumaʻu, the B1 camera view below.

Sure is reminiscent of Mokuʻāweoweo, seen below this morning too.

And just because, on this decidedly wintry day, from a Keck observatory camera up on Maunakea:

As seen above, Tilt is ticking upward...Inflating the summit area of Kīlauea.  Just a reminder, with the weathers as a caution, some instrumentation data may lag.

The graph below was saved at the same time as that above, but TryLook the time range at the bottom.
OK?  Go poke around the HVO site at leisure between sips of your beverage of choice.  But be makaʻala!

maka.ʻala

nvt. Alert, vigilant, watchful, wide awake;

PayAttention to details, please.

From friend ac, who visited Maunakea on December 11, 2011, a dewed ʻāhinahina.

And km shared one in full bloom, also on The Mauna.

Thatʻs it for now.  Stay warm, dry, and safe!  And yes, masks, wash hands, adhere to rules...

Aloha, always aloha,
