Kaluapele

On the Island of Hawaiʻi, Kaluapele (the pit of pele or Pele) crowns the summit region of the volcano Kīlauea.

Sunday, February 14, 2021 Valentineʻs Day subtleties

Those of us who spend time looking, watching, musing and wondering should have keen eyes and great observational skills, but more importantly, be at the right place at the right time to capture The Moment.  Pelehonuamea waits for no one.  Some look for shapes in evershifting clouds, while others note equally ephemeral features on the papa of the loko ahi...

Another well-timed click by mp at HVO, the above on February 11, 2021.

A morning with patchy clouds, kinda chilly, a little paka ua falling... A couple days ago ma kai, it was balmy and sunnywarm.  Weathers are ephemeral too.  The cloud cover over Kaluapele mutes grey, but emphasizes reds.

The work of Pele continues, more less, with vigor or diminishment, here there and here again.
Lots of figures to play with below and calculations to make, though of course only She know what the future holds.
Otherwise, itʻs oia mau nō up here and at the Lua.  Iʻm headed out for a stroll in Kīpukapuaulu and am looking forward to visiting longtime forest friends.

Be well, enjoy time (virtual or not) with loved ones, Wear A Mask, Stay Socially Distant, Wash Hands...

As always, with aloha,
